Microsoft Office Home and Student gives you the essential tools you need to complete school and household projects efficiently. Ready-to-use templates in Word and PowerPoint equip students to create outstanding schoolwork, with rich visual effects and media-editing features that help them express their ideas creatively.
Excel gives you the spreadsheet tools the pros use to simplify working with data, from tracking expenses to creating a household budget.
You can choose to install 32 or 64 bit. Have all the applications I need as a college student. Easy installation without the hassle of downloading online. Cons: Should include directions on how to setup bit installation on the retail box and booklet. You have to click on x64 folder and click setup without auto-run.
Pros: My Windows 7 phone has Office and getting this is not only an upgrade from my Office , but also more compatable to sync with my Smart Phone. OneNote’ I use it a lot. Up to 3 PC’s is nice. Overall Review: Having a Windows 7 Professional 64bit installed OS you would think that it would be better to install Office as a 64bit.
Microsoft recommends using the 32bit version for compatability of program add-ons. It is designed to allow the 32bit version to operate correctly on a 64bit system. So, I guess having and installing an Office 64bit would be a waste.
Had I not read that, I would have not purchased the 32bit only. What a great way to keep all types of notes. With Photos, voice recordings and editable, on the fly notes. One Note is the way to go. Pros: Some small refinements to the ribbon make it even easier to use than Office Microsoft has a bunch of free online tutorials on it’s Office products. They will help get you up to speed quickly. If you’re updating from Office , there is a whole new interface to learn.
But once you get used to it, you’ll wonder how you got along with the old system. Another reviewer thought the product was pricy. That, my friend, is a bargain. Overall Review: I’ve been using the Public Beta since it came out.
It has been super stable. I’ve been using the Home and Student edition for a month now, and it is rock solid. They’ve finally transformed Office into a tool that’s almost fun to use. This product comes with a 3-user key, also making it the most affordable Office yet. It loads up faster than Office , looks better, but is an easy step up not much to learn going from to The Office ‘Ribbon’ is replaced with a colored tab called ‘File’ in Office which makes more sense.
Lots of options in terms of saving i. Built-in ability to save a Word document as a PDF. Cons: This doesn’t come with Outlook, not that I have ever really cared for it anyways.
I use it to store and organize everything. Truly powerful software. Cons: Just to be clear this does not include Outlook any more in this version. Some users are dropping the rating for it. They product is very clear it does not include Outlook, past versions did. For my this is not a big deal since I use web based mail, but you have to go up to the standard version if you want Outlook.
Pros: Works good as always. I dropped an egg cuz office is still way to expensive. Pros: I’ve had mediocre to annoying experiences with older versions Microsoft Office.
I ended up in a situation where I need to use Office, so I decided I might as well get the newest version. It loads fast and the layout is really nicely done. Very easy to use! Cons: I guess not having Outlook is a deal-breaker for some people. I just use Thunderbird free program , which works fine for home and student uses. I wonder if Microsoft was thinking along the same lines and that’s why they didn’t include Outlook? Even with the ability to legally install this program on 3 computers, it’s still a bit over priced.
Overall Review: Got this at a steep discount because my husband is active duty. If I’d had to pay full price, I would have bought it on Newegg. Sold by: Newegg Shipped by Newegg.

The Office suite is really an enhancement of previous versions and fun to work with. There are still some of the old shortcomings of office e. I have purchased the family pack, taking advantage at least I thought so of the offer to upgrade for free to the next version.
When it was time to upgrade, I realized that instead of the three PCs supported by the family pack I actually use only two of them , I had the option to either go online and have five licenses office for one year or download 1 license. The details of the lack of support and suboptimal licensing policy follow in the next lengthy description Option 1 office , although very tempting, was out of question, since I need to be able to edit my documents all times, even when I do not have an Internet connection.
This happens frequently due to connection problems at home, but I also often decide to work offline, just to make sure that I don’t get any network-related slow-downs. I was thinking that getting just one license must have been due to some error in the license databases and decided to download the version on my laptop and try to resolve the issue with the three licenses later.
I sent a comment to Microsoft about it, hoping to receive a reply within the next days. Unfortunately I haven’t received a reply up to today close to one week later but I realized by searching the Internet that there was no such thing as a “family” version in I deiced to accept the fact that I would have one license of and the other would be of Microsoft will actually let you keep your license, which is very important in cases similar to mine and move the license from my laptop to my desktop.
I first uninstalled being online, and then installed it on my desktop using my office account, just to find out that I couldn’t do that, because the activation was already carried out! I tried many times and then decided to use the phone. The local toll-free number didn’t work, even after multiple attempts at different hours of the day. Finally I decided to use the European number, and then the activation worked This relatively time-consuming experience is the reason for removing one star from my overall evaluation.
One person found this helpful. I have been using Microsoft Office for about 25 years, and have used just about every version. My special area of interest is Microsoft Word, which I have written with and programmed professionally for a living for most of that time. If you have used Office , the look of Office applications will be familiar.
The most obvious change is that the Office button has gone, replaced by a new File tab just left of the Home tab. The File tab is where you’ll find many document-related features, such as information properties , recent files list, new document creation, sharing, help, and of course printing.
All these features have been improved, though none more than the print feature, which has had a major overhaul. It is now easier to use. Its new layout has plenty of space to explain options, and it offers one of the best print-previews I have ever seen outside a professional DTP package. The ribbon may now be customized. This takes a bit of fiddling, but it is quite easy if you take a moment to watch one of the tutorials on Microsoft’s website. This enables you to add any command you like to the ribbon, including macros.
Some of the new text effects in Word are cool-looking but not especially useful to commercial authors. For example, reflections under headings look nice, but nobody would seriously entertain using them in a business presentation or a user guide. However, they do offer some fun design options for informal documents. PDF-making is now built-in. It used to be available only as a free download due to a spat between Microsoft and Adobe. OneNote has been overlooked my many users, but it is a powerful note-making tool.
I use it to jot ideas for projects. The ability to drop any file into a OneNote page makes it a handy place to dump pictures, video, audio comments, documents and website links for reference. My only gripe is that, yet again, almost nothing has been added to VBA – the macro programming language built-in to Office applications. Most people don’t use it, but it is the most powerful feature in Office. With it, you can make Word, Excel and so on, do just about anything you want it to do.
If you can master VBA, then you will have absolute control over Office and the things you create using it. All were fresh installations, and all worked fine. I’ve read many reviews here that have complained about the terrible installation process, but I had no problems at all. Putting software and hardware clashes aside, the trick is to choose CUSTOM installation there’s an option for this after you enter your licence code.
It installs in about 1. Once you have installed it, I recommend clicking the “Continue Online” button to download and install all the updates there are quite a few. These patch a few problems and generally bring your installation up to date. Overall it’s a pleasing step-up from Office , especially with regard to the new File tab.
The new features are not earth-shattering, but I have found them useful and worth the money. See all reviews. Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations. Back to top. Get to Know Us.
